Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and motivation to strengthening South African Social Security Company (SASSA) services during an engagement together with the company's senior professionals at a strategic organizing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the many social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric exams.
Of the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, symbolizing 81% from the registered pupils in the schooling sector.
These learners reached a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expenditure government is building in the life of very poor and vulnerable children is yielding a beneficial impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe reported.
Reflecting on recent achievements, the Minister highlighted vital milestones and ongoing priorities. She devoted to urgently addressing the issue of lasting leadership appointments and also the scarcity of personnel at most community workplaces.
